Gleadless Townend is an outer city district of Sheffield centred on the junction of the ring road, White Lane (B6054) and Gleadless Road (B6388).
==History==
On 20 September 2008, a 75-year-old woman was seriously injured when she was fell and was subsequently struck by a tram while it was arriving at the local tram stop.〔http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/7626738.stm〕〔http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/around-yorkshire/local-stories/woman_seriously_injured_in_sheffield_tram_accident_1_2288626〕 Up to 30 firefighters, plus police, paramedics and Supertram's emergency response team, were involved in the operation to free the woman, who was trapped between the edge of the platform and the centre section of the tram. The tram was lifted on hydraulic jacks and a section of the bodywork was cut away to allow the woman to be removed and transferred to the Northern General Hospital, suffering from severe head injuries, a fractured pelvis, and a fractured leg.〔http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/woman_trapped_under_tram_1_254974〕
